Lesson # 7

Title of lesson:West Side Story Clips

Description of lesson:
Students will watch clips from West Side Story and compare and contrast them to Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

Assignment:
Students will watch the clips from West Side Story and write a brief paragraph about each clip. How does it compare to Romeo and Juliet. What did they keep the same in the film and what did they change. They will then write an additional paragraph stating whether or not they think the writers of West Side Story indeed wrote an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet.

Resources/materials needed:
Computer with internet and text of Romeo and Juliet

Technology reflection:
As long as students have access to a computer and internet I think that that this lesson would work. If I did decide to do this in class, I think it would be wise to make sure I have the DVD copy as well in case issues with technology arise.

Evaluation:
(as a classroom teacher, this will be where you jot your notes on what went right, what needs to be changed, etc.)

I'm mostly worried about the embedr not working. I had to copy and past the url's a few times and sometimes certain videos didn't work so I am hoping they will work when the lesson is taught. If not, like I said before, I would have the DVD on hand just in case.

Resources: Here is the embedr with the videos to go along with this lesson:
